Pssst. Editing holiday cards may not be on your mind right now.
I know you’re busy making your list and checking it twice.
The holiday season is a time when we reach out to friends and family far and wide. We’re inquiring about new addresses for those who have moved. We’re buying postage stamps. (You are buying holiday stamps, right? You’re not just using those “Forever” stamps?)
I’m talking about Christmas cards, and things can and do go wrong. Here are a few ways to make your Christmas cards truly merry and bright:
1. Write envelopes by hand, using a nice pen. I know; it’s time consuming. But printed labels slapped on there just don’t have that personal touch. They don’t. I don’t know what else to tell you.
2. Be sure to check your spelling. Don’t be like the manufacturer of these pajamas, for example, in such a rush you fail to notice a fatal error. If we’re talking about the heavenly being atop your tree, it’s “angel,” not “angle.” The word “wreath” doesn’t have an “e” on the end of it … and never has, to the best of my knowledge. Your family is “The Smiths,” not “The Smith’s.”
3. Include a quick note. This is especially nice if the recipient has had a tough year.
Merry mail delivery … from Plum Editorial.
